FOR SALE
Qorones are made to order. We can make any size from 5.5m to 15m diameter. The smallest has 8 walls, is 5.5m diameter and has 21m2 floor space. Each time you add a wall, you extend the footprint. Walls can be added one at a time, right up to the largest size, which has 24 walls and is 176m2. Please see the table for info on sizing.
So, you've decided that the Qorone is going to be the perfect structure for your glampsite, campsite, venue or events business, how do you go about choosing which one is right for you? Some suggestions:
-
8-9 sides: The perfect size for cosy yet spacious sleeping accommodation. Kids play den. Garden room.
-
10 - 16 sides: Campsite hub, communal space, covered activities, workshops, smaller events.
-
17-24 sides: Event space such as weddings and parties, outside dining, live music, corporate entertainment.

You then choose how many doors and windows you'll need for your intended use. For example, if it's accommodation, you'll probably only want one door and maybe three or four windows. But if it's a larger structure for, say, a campsite communal space, you might want several entry points and windows in every other wall.
OPTIONS & EXTRAS
Various options make each structure perfect for your intended use.

Flooring: for accomodation and permanent installations, you may want to put in a wooden floor, or place the structure on a platform. For a more earthy rustic feel, then coir matting might do the job nicely. But for a campsite communal space or shelter, it can go straight onto the ground.

Wall height: The standard height is 2.8m. We can increase this to accommodate raised flooring inside, or a built-in stage. We recommend the largest Qorones are a little taller to keep them in proportion.
Fire: The central fire is an integral part of the design. Choose between a log burning stove, practical for sleeping accommodation, or an open fire, which would suit a campsite hub or communal space. Whichever you choose, it will be designed to fit the space perfectly, providing a warm and cosy place to be. If no fire is required, this can be replaced with a central pole.

In-built seating: Benches can be attached to any or all of the walls to maximise the seated capacity.

Windows: The canvas covers are great, but if you are thinking of a more permanent installation, glass windows, either fixed or opening, are also an option.
MATERIALS & SPECIFICATION
The walls are made of locally sourced coastal redwood, giant sequoia or cedar. We use larch for the floor. These woods are resistant to rot and attack by insects. We can use other timbers if you prefer and can even use a tree from your own land if you happen to have one that needs to come down or has been blown over in a storm.

As we build the walls, we select pieces of wood to compliment each other and hand finish in our own particuar style, to leave a tactile finish. This means that our walls, benches and other wooden furniture ooze character and individuality, and are pleasing to the eye and touch.

The wood is sealed in three coast of a high-spec, exterior grade varnish.

The fixings are made of stainless steel, they will never rust!

The fireplace is made of mild steel, designed to take on an attractive patina as it ages.

The roof is made of the same canvas as yurts and tipis - made fire retardant at the point of manufacture and to last around 10 years. As the roof is in sections (one section per wall panel), it can be replaced one piece at a time, if necessary.

LOW IMPACT & LOW MAINTENANCE
The Qorone is a free-standing structure. There is no staking into the ground, and guy ropes are not required. The outward-leaning walls make it extremely sturdy. There is no machinery used to erect the structure. As each section can be carried by hand, accessing tricky areas, for example down a windy track or into the woods, doesn't cause issues.

Once erected, there is really very little that will need doing to maintain the sructure. The materials we use are hardy and can withstand the elements for many years.
